Fun fact: each year, between 3,500 and 12,000 cinema events take place worldwide, but only a handful truly shape the global film landscape. Known within the industry as the “Big Five” - Cannes, Venice, Berlin (Berlinale), Toronto (TIFF), and Sundance - these festivals set the agenda for international cinema each year.


In 2026, film festivals, awards and major industry events will once again determine which films will be watched, talked about and remembered, including those rare discoveries that introduce new talent and cross borders to reach audiences around the world.
